Lapland UK: The Ultimate Winter Wonderland or Wallet Woe?

'Tis the season to be jolly and all that, and what better way to celebrate the magic of Christmas than by taking a trip to Lapland UK? Lapland UK promises an epic adventure filled with festive joy, but does the reality match the hype?

The Good: Enchanting and magical.

From the moment you step into Lapland UK, it's clear that no expense has been spared in creating a winter wonderland that rivals the North Pole itself. The production values are on another level, with every detail meticulously crafted to transport us into a magical realm. The Elves, the enchanting forest, and the cosy log cabins all contribute to an immersive experience that really does capture the spirit of Christmas.

The Elves deserve a standing ovation for their commitment to character and the genuine warmth they bring to the experience. The snow-covered landscapes and twinkling lights create a truly enchanting atmosphere so I cannot fault the aesthetic.

The Not-So-Good: The Price of Enchantment

Now, let's address the snow-covered elephant in the room – the cost. While Lapland UK delivers a unique experience, the price of admission might leave your wallet feeling as light as a snowflake. Tickets come with a hefty price tag and I couldn't help but wonder if the enchantment was enough to justify the expense.

So, the cost of our tickets was an eyewatering £537, I booked it early in the year when I had so much going on personally and it was an attempt to cheer me up and have something to look forward to but on reflection, I could have spent that amount of money on multiple activities for the girls throughout December that they would have equally loved and had some spare change to add towards their gifts.

Cost breakdown (For 2 adults and 4 children) for the 18th December 2023:

2x adults £358

4 x children £716

Booking fee £22.50

Postage and packaging £7.85

1 x Invitation box £5

I found there was a bit of a conveyor belt feeling to the day, we were sent as a large group into each section and I had a buggy so to avoid holding anyone up I was often at the back, which meant having to sit on the only seats left at the back of each room so it was difficult for the girls to actually see the entertainment.

Whilst on the topic of buggy’s, this was a bit of an issue, a lot of the route is woodchip and was tricky to push the buggy over this, my arms were aching by the end of the day.

Missing the Magic Ingredient:

Despite the grandeur of Lapland UK, there was a subtle feeling that lingered – a missing piece of the puzzle that would have made the experience truly unforgettable. Perhaps it was the long queues, the very brief encounter with Santa, or the rush to fit in all the activities within a limited time frame. Whatever it was, there was a sense that something was lacking to fully justify the high cost of admission.

Tips:

1) A few people have recommended going either in November or earlier in December to bring the cost down a little so that’s something to look into.

2) The wait for Santa comes at the end of your day, we found the kids by this point are tired and agitated so waiting for approximately an additional 30 minutes was not the most fun part of the day for any of us, lol. I would suggest taking something to keep them entertained during this part.

3) I would really recommend the Ice Skating; I actually wish there was more time in the village area as there is a post office for the kids to do letters to Santa and a really cute sweet shop but after giving the kids lunch and then Ice Skating there wasn’t enough time to do anything else because of the pressure to get to Santa for your time slot. So basiclly try and get the kids fed quickly so you can really take more of this part in.

4) Think about taking a baby carrier instead of a buggy if your little one isn’t too heavy. Pushing the buggy around on the woodchip became a real pain in the ass.

Conclusion:

Lapland UK is undeniably a winter wonderland, the production quality and attention to detail are commendable, creating a magical atmosphere that mirrors the festive spirit. However, the steep cost of tickets is something to seriously consider.

In the end, Lapland UK offers a unique and enchanting Christmas experience that can be a magical treat if your willing to splurge on the holiday spirit. While the price may be a bit hard to swallow, the memories created are sure to linger in the hearts of our little ones for years to come. So, if you're ready to dive into the magic of Lapland UK, bundle up and get ready for a festive adventure like no other.

Merry Christmas guys and feel free to leave any tips or reviews in the comments, would love to hear your experiences and also would really help other Mums thinking to book in the future!
